This lab is a brave space
for the artist (in you),
the advocate (in you),
and everyone
who is wanting and working
at living & sharing
a life congruent
with their own sense
of
True Nature.

This is a foundations study and pre-requisite for participation in the 2025 Performance Art Intensive.
It is focused around SEWing, the performance art & embodied liberation practice developed by ONEspace founder, Candace la Tía.
Self Exploration Witnessing (SEWing) requires:
- a dedication to truth and honesty with one's Self,
- the choice to explore new terrain and discover what that really means [for you],
- the courage to share/amplify/expand, witness and be witnessed by community in that vulnerable re-membering.
It is a tool...a practice
It is self-exploration, of the individual and collective self, the "Tapestry of We" Self - it is particular kind of adventure. |
It is a tool, a practice
for strengthening one's presence...
one's nervous system,
one's capacity and resilience.
for aligning
with the creative-intuitive-heart-mind,
with one's personal voice
for honing our communications, our boundaries and our consent - our moment to moment discernment.
It is a tool, a practice
for the storytellers, the change makers, the helpers, and the advocates.
for deepening connection - relationship - with one's self and one's community.
for "Embodied Equality"
for reshaping our personal soma and the cultural-collective soma
It is
a whole body,
somatics based,
exploration
of our 'internal picture book'
of [ALL] Truth[s],
of our relationship with SELF
--the individual and the collective SELF--
For
Authentic Performance
on stage and
most importantly
in Life -
in community
For
Inner-to-Outer Activism
For
Becoming the more beautiful world our hearts know
is possible
........for This being Human..........
a video. an example of advanced application...

TESTIMONIALS
What I get from working with "La Tía":
“A way to get out of my head and into my body -
allowing me to embody ALL aspects of my humanity, not just think my way into who I am and what I'm creating... that, to me, is being humanity led.”
- Matthew Reynolds, 18 January 2023
MRR consulting - Crafting Your Equity Lens; Author: "Biggest, Fullest and Brightest"
What I get from working with "La Tía":
“In 2019 I participated in Tía’s 6 week series, Grieving as a Community Collaboration, in preparation for the annual community practice, “A Social Mourning Place." When COVID came, I did a series of private SEWing sessions via zoom.
Tía helps people discover their own truth. She observes their body, movements, sounds, words and sees the truth of things even when the person involved is trying to hide it or deny it. In this way she helps people become whole and stronger in themselves. My work with Tía is bringing unconscious memories out of my body into consciousness, releasing the constrictions that the unconscious memories held and creating a stronger, more whole, person. I feel more confident in expressing myself.”
- Wanda Borland, 19 June 2020
Videographer, community advocate, environmental and social justice activist
What I get from working with "La Tía":
“I worked with Tía for almost a year on an immersive theatre piece…
As artists, we’re often searching for ways to train our instrument,
to tell our stories with more depth, sharper precision, and less fear.
…the hallowed ground, buried within your own soul, is the region where Tía’s unique talent to communicate resides.
With Tía’s encouragement and instinctual knowledge of how the body oftentimes holds truths that the mind can’t,
I learned to let go and tap into a different plane.
A plane whose existence I’d heard tale of, but was either too scared to visit alone,
and/or I questioned my own worthiness to participate in.
She invited me through the lessons that appeared, guided me to be courageous with what I found
and led me lovingly back to safety.”
- Cedric Lamar, 27 August 2018
Actor, Theatre Artist, Singer/Songwriter, 6 season OSF company member

What I get from working with "La Tía":
“I worked with Tía for almost five years,
both creatively and through SEWing (Self-Exploration Witnessing).
An ideal companion and navigator on the innermost legs of the journey within, Tía embodies a kind of selfless love. Her goal really is your ultimate healing, authentic creative expression, and deep well-being. She intimately knows the telltale signposts that appear in the body, in speech, in life circumstances, and in emotions [as she] guides others into the inner chambers of their own truths.
Her sensitivity and skill in the tricky realm of trauma make her a richly dimensional and safe space where other modalities and practitioners couldn't fully help me. Each session I've done with Tía has been a deep dive into my own being, swimming through the shipwrecks there and recovering long forgotten treasure.
Though sessions can be emotionally challenging in certain ways,
working with Tía is ultimately a wildly pleasurable, wholly satisfying, and utterly empowering experience.”
